Both my son and I were riding our bikes single file as we approached traffic lights. We were in the straight ahead lane. There are also left and right turning lanes. A car suddenly came alongside us and gradually veered towards us into the straight ahead lane which forced us to move aside for it into the left turning lane. It gave us both a fright, even though it unfolded quite slowly because the traffic lights were red. On the other side of the intersection is a pinch point due to parked cars so bikes need to be able to stay in the straight ahead lane or they will be endangered when the road narrows.
